Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am currently in-network for Blue Cross Blue Shield BCBS PPO, Blue Choice, and United/Optum; I am out-of-network for all other insurance networks but can provide a "superbill" for you to submit a self-claim with your insurance company for an out-of-network provider (I may be able to do this for you electronically). Please be aware some insurance company reimbursements can be a very low percentage of actual session costs and/or there may be no benefits paid until a substantial deductible has been met. Please check with your insurance network for your specific benefits information and needed Pre-authorization. Out of network fees are paid at the time of service.   

What about privacy?

Upside Counseling P.C. takes your privacy extremely seriously and wants you to understand exactly how, where, and when your records may be released under the HIPPA law. In general, your signature is required for any releases of information but there are some legal exceptions/restrictions that will be explained to you before services are provided. We utilize a secure off-site HIPPA compliant Electronic Medical Records system and Secure Patient Portal to ensure the security of appointments, records, and communication. Please read Notice of Privacy Rights HIPPA, consent, and office policy forms for more specific information.

Do you offer teletherapy services?

Yes, exclusively. Therapy is a face-to-face experience and a video conference is the safest available option without any added COVID-19 health risks. Connecting 1:1 through video can offer a just as meaningful interaction as in person and let's be honest, we emotionally connect with people on TV and video all time. There are numerous added benefits and built-in conveniences that means teletherapy will very likely remain as an exclusive or adjunctive option going into the future. With luck, by sometime in 2021 I will return to some combination of in-person and teletherapy services.
